Divorce in KL vs Selangor: Where Your Case Is Filed
The procedure is the same in both, but the court differs. Couples living in Kuala Lumpur file their petition at the Kuala Lumpur High Court. Couples living in Selangor generally file at a High Court in Selangor, such as Shah Alam. We handle filings and attend hearings at both, so you do not need a different lawyer depending on which side of the border you live.

Where you married does not usually decide it. What matters is where you and your spouse live now. We will advise on the correct court at your consultation.
How long does a divorce take?
Around 3 to 4 months for a joint petition. A contested divorce can take a year or longer. More on timelines.
Do I have to attend court?
Yes, at least once. In a joint petition there is usually one short hearing, and we attend with you.
